Nantasket Beach House

For a house one block from a revered bathing beach on Boston’s South Shore, the Nantasket Beach House had a decidedly cold character with dark interior finishes, no mudroom or coat closet, and an isolated kitchen at odds with hosting frequent summertime guests. This renovation opens the kitchen to the adjacent dining room, connecting the host with guests while prepping food and welcoming natural light into the space. A luminous, tiled mudroom provides a welcoming and functional gateway to the house, with direct access to a new laundry room to keep wet/sandy items contained to the entry area.
