The Perch

Outgrowing their 1934 Dutch Colonial house after living there for nearly a decade and raising their two young children there, this family of four sought a renovation/addition that would allow them to live there comfortably long into the future. A three-story addition to the rear of the house provides them with space to spread out, host large gatherings, and connect more intimately with the outdoors. The new great room has a raised ceiling to lend it grandeur while floor-to-ceiling windows at the end of the space frame a vista of the expansive wooded area behind the home. A sweeping staircase encourages flow from the great room down to a rear terrace that is intimately connected to a new walk-out basement flex space. A new primary suite tops the addition, providing the owners with a private oasis in the treetops.
